• Kerala Governor Sikander Bakht passes away (Hindustan Times) Kerala Governor Sikander Bakht died on Monday night at the Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, hospital sources said. Bakht was battling for life since Sunday night when he was put on ventilator at the hospital where he had been recuperating after an emergency surgery for an intestinal block on February 19.
• Six killed in ISRO Sriharikotta blast (asianet) In a massive explosion which took place at one of the buildings in SHAR centre coming under ISRO's satellite launch pad in Sriharikota, six persons died and three were injured.
• General strike from midnight (Surya TV) The 24-hour nation-wide general strike called by the Left trade unions tomorrow is likely to hit normal life in the state. The strike is expected to paralyse the functioning of government offices, educational institutions, banks and other commercial establishments.
• Drop of 8.5 lakh voters in State (The Hindu) The number of voters in the State has dropped by about 8.5 lakhs compared to the number of voters in the Assembly elections held in 2001. The drop is around 12 lakhs against the electorate of the previous Lok Sabha elections (1999).
• Call to check conversion in Northeast (Times of India) A group of tribals from the Northeast today called for a check on conversion of tribals in the region and said that largescale conversion had resulted in the destruction of traditional "janajati" faith and culture.

• Indian cricketers are not going for any war: Vajpayee (Manorama) Silencing critics of Indian cricket team's tour of Pakistan, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Sunday said the team was going to play the game and not for a war.
